iPhone 16 may feature virtual buttons and high refresh rates across the entire lineup

Even before the dust settles on the iPhone 15 series launch, there are already rumors about the upcoming iPhone 16. This new report comes from popular tipster Digital Chat Station who hints at some exciting features for the next generation. Anticipated Features of iPhone 16 The iPhone 16 series is rumored to replace physical buttons with virtual solid-state buttons, a feature that has been speculated before. Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo previously predicted a similar feature for the iPhone 15 Pro models. Initially, there were expectations that the iPhone 15 Pro models would employ two Taptic Engines to simulate button presses without physical movement, but Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo later reversed this prediction, suggesting the iPhone 15 Pro models would retain physical buttons. However, the ongoing consideration of virtual buttons by Apple suggests they might be introduced in the iPhone 16 series. Apple is rumored to be considering upgrading the screen refresh rates for its standard iPhone models, which have historically featured a 60Hz refresh rate in models like the 13, 14, and 15 series. The upcoming iPhone 16 might break this trend, potentially featuring refresh rates of either 90Hz or 120Hz. Such an upgrade would be a significant leap for the standard models, bringing smoother visuals and better overall display performance. Additionally, the iPhone 16 Pro series might see a camera upgrade. The speculation points towards a 48MP stacked super-large main camera sensor and a 5X periscope telephoto lens. The Dynamic Island and the overall design of the device are expected to remain unchanged. The upcoming series is also expected to feature Wi-Fi 7.
